Conquer Cold Sores and Fever Blisters

Several new medications have emerged which can shorten, and in some cases eliminate cold sores (also known as fever blisters).  Cold sores are viral in nature, and distinctly different from canker sores (apthous ulcers).  Because cold sores are viral, new antiviral medications are now available (but these will not work on canker sores).  Medication can be in pill form, cream form, or liquid.  While the over-the-counter medication Abreva yields 30% improvement, prescription Zovirax and Denavir  can prevent the cold sore from erupting in the prodromal stage (when a person first feels the tingling or burning).  Most recently, Viroxyn has entered the market, and reports it can cut down the burning stage from six days to one hour!

If you suffer from cold sores, suffer no longer.  Ask Dr. Schonberg which medication would best be suited for you.

Stem Cell Banking at the Dentist

Family5Did you know stem cells can now be saved from teeth that are naturally coming out or being extracted? We all lose our 20 baby teeth, and many people have teeth extracted for a variety of reasons, including for braces or for impacted wisdom teeth.  These “dental stem cells” are a simple and convenient source of potent stem cells that help the body renew and repair itself. Families that store their children’s dental stem cells will be prepared to benefit from breakthroughs and advances being developed around the world from dental stem cells. If you or your child are losing a tooth or having teeth extracted, ask Dr. Schonberg about Store-A-Tooth dental stem cell banking, to see if this service could offer added protection for your family’s future health.
